Epic Drone Video

When a family embarks upon a journey like the journey this one has, it’s inevitable those around them, particularly their visual story teller, will comprehend their feelings – it’s impossible to avoid the earnest love they fee for their childhood home!

And almost brings me to tears. Hence the cinematic music! And the drama of true love for this place. That is so much more than a place.

One does not lightly let go of such a valuable and coveted 9 acre ocean front estate.

Filming here – I smiled the entire time, brought back memories for me of the day I learned our English country mansion, nestled in the depths of Surrey’s National Trust Forests, was being put on the market.

I was devastated. I left my Red Sea Scuba Schools scuba diving work, a successful career in PADI’s world wide career scuba network, and flew back to confront the parents whose divorce prompted the sale!

Letting go of ones home, especially such a beautiful one, is as much of an upheaval as anything I have ever experienced. It’s still a space in which we mourn it’s loss, for my siblings and I, to this day!

Whoever purchases the Roebling property, whether 3 or 6 acre (sold as two separate lots) or the 9 acre complete parcel.

Commercially zoned, or otherwise, they will surely embark on such a journey!

It is absolutely magical, green, dreamy and inspiring, just running through trees, along or approaching from the sunrise speeding across the waves into the lagoon. Or walking out to the islands, across the flats at low tide! Or watching the hawks and gulls play and hunt!

Adventure movies could be made here! Epic!

happy photographer smiles while she makes video

I am a happy photographer who smiles when she makes video and flies her drone, whilst tapping out her favourite tune on her knee. We love this work. (FYI – in case you did not notice, this post is all about me – but in the process it’s about your journey too. You – oh fellow creator of life changing, human improving content!)

I AM A HAPPY PHOTOGRAPHER

Being a happy photographer means you’ve balanced work that generates payment with work you love to make. Means you make photographs because you love the work, and you have the creativity and energy to continue learning a little each time. And sharing. And bringing love into people’s lives. (and I can shoot photo even when a migraine is in full swing…something about being behind the lens…it’s magical healing powers)

HAPPY PHOTOGRAPHER SMILES WHILE MAKING VIDEO

Being a smiling video maker means you’ve (hopefully) charged enough for the work you love to make, and you still love it, 18 hours after your edits are still not done. And you still love it after the client asks for more edits than you were paid for, and you still love it when the work you do is shared and cried over and watched by thousands. And you still love it when your family hire other people to make video for them. (!!?!!) Even then!

BIGGEST POWER BOOST – watch other people’s work. Look for challenging shots and duplicate. Master that one technique..and slay the skills one at a time!

WANT TO EMULTE THIS SHOT #1

King Arthur & The Legend Of The Sword – running from the Black Legs through Londinium – there’s Arthur, Percival, Rubio, Bedevere – the tiny hemmed in lanes and the camera is on their wrist or shoulder mount and you get this insane up close up of their facial expressions as they yell ‘move’ ‘move’

WANT TO EMULATE THIS SHOT #2

Opening Scene of King Arthur Legend Of The Sword CGI – i know but the swinging elephants trunk as it crushes a tower, and the horse galloping under it just before it crumbles!! And the music!!!!!

Adobe Premiere Pro – Final Cut Pro – Red – Arri – Sony – Iphone: it’s about lighting and composition in the end. Whatever device is in your hand.

I am a smiling videographer. Fore sure. Why? You know, if you make video, it’s because it is raw and real and tells the story. And YOU are the creator. And being the creator is an honour and a privilege and one that can not be replaced lightly. You should consider yourself an exceptional person in the sense that to tell our story it is first a skill with the eye of the beholder and secondly a skill with the camera.

Don’t underestimate your talent! Being a video creator is a creative journey that can not be given as a skill, it has to be learned and truly utterly earned.

THE EDITING SIDE OF IT IS VERY REWARDING, SUPER LONG AND TIME CONSUMING.

Hiring a post production team is a great idea, then you get more people who love what they do and are working because they love it. And want to do it more. Right? We hope so. But I’ve only ever hired three people to work with me. Each time their work was absolutely exceptional. And I think we all learned alot.

if you send us some money we will be available to listen and respond to your pro requests, questions and send you regular creator information. whether its how best to learn to fly a drone, which drone to fly or what side the logo should be on your photographs, wedding photo, real estate videos or million dollar yachts promos…we are pros and we knows..and we get the motion graphics and the subtitles and the intro and the outro

LETTING EDITING GO – LEAP OF FAITH?

elopement – 4 vendors, 4 hours to shoot. 24 hours to edit. friends for life – and featured in wedding magazines, 100%

The video above was shot by myself and my husband. I also shot photographs for this couple, they are being featured in the online magazine www.whatifweelope.com @whatifweelope in December. When you let the editing go, whether it is photo or video, you give up the creative process. Yes. You do. BUT….

GIVING UP PHOTO EDITING You no longer decide the framing, the tone, the color, the cropping, the spot removal. But you get all the time you need to go shoot more photos and video.

GIVING UP VIDEO EDITING You no longer have control over the story, someone else creates the magic. With the work you have shot. Let’s hope they don’t call you and say, I can’t work with this…that’s never happened to me. But I am very aware of quality now, since I look back over my older work and see terrible mistakes.

EDIT IN HOUSE OR SEND IT OUT?

When you embark on a journey saying I want to make a difference in people’s lives with my skills, make their memories legendary and help them capture the meaning in a moment. That is when you are truly alive. When you are being true to your inner drive. But can you afford to live on it? I make the content in order to make more content…if I have enough income that month to replace a broken lens, fabulous…I can rarely afford editing services. But a broken lens needs fixing

Whether you edit in house or send it away is up to you. If you are BURNED OUT and not getting enough sleep (hello….anyone?) then maybe send the content away this one time…you never know that may be the beginning of a great partnership in visual content production.

Sign up for the news about our content production and how we do it. All in house, with a little help from our friends around the world, when things are busy in the busy season.

Love Dogs, Lanky Cats & ‘Engaging Tails’

So excited to wake up this morning and see our newest feature on the front page of The Daily Dog Tag

love dogs & lanky cats with engagement photography

Engagement photography, two dogs, cats, Clyde Coopers BBQ, Rand Bryan House a beach front ‘Islander’ wedding on New Years in the Florida Keys. And once we catch our breath, we will be making the video too. And staying to watch the fire works, according to our agreement with Ashley & Daniel. It’s one of the most fun weddings I’ve ever been a part of. And I am personally super excited to see the pups again, as well as Ashley & Daniel, of course…..about to commit to each other for life…oh my, I am nervous already. But working together during they engagement shoot was a riot. I mean, really a riot. The Daily Dog Tag did a great job sharing that sense of what it was all about. I know I spelled Daniel’s last name wrong, so sorry about that guys, by Jessop is correct.

the story from the feature....

Raleigh, North Carolina is a new fave city for this Florida Keys photographer.

The email from Ashley I received got my interest right away. This woman knew she wanted me and she knew what she wanted.

From the Islander in Islamorada, where the wedding is going to take place on New Years Eve 2019, to the pre wedding Dry Tortugas trip by sea plane, to the prominent roles their two dogs London and Baloo will be playing.

She was so straight up with all her needs I said, hey, why don’t I come and take your engagement photos too? Then I fell in love with Ashley & Daniel, they are a gentle and very loving, fun couple.

I felt absolutely welcomed into the Jessup and Holt family circle and when we meandered around down town Raleigh, from our trip to Rand Bryan, to their home, then the Vintage Chapel and on to the history rich State Capitol Building, then the iconic Clyde Coopers BBQ, it felt like I was visiting with a local encyclopaedic tour guide.

Just listening to the discussion about which way to get from point a to the family restaurant was a rich and satisfying detailing of every turn and feature in Raleigh. This girl knows her way around her town. These two feel solid together and it’s a feeling that they shared freely with me.

I loved their history as a couple and can’t wait to hear more of it in December when they come here to the Florida Keys to be married. The film and photographs we make for them will be better and richer than any other project. Since we have already worked together and made great things happen the next time we meet will be even more fruitful.

I’m so proud to know these two and grateful to have been able to claim my spot as a North Carolina engagement photographer. At least once. I fully plan to return to the areas and firstly ski, secondly hike, thirdly seek new clients…..there is much more..read it here..

Do you love to make social media photography?

Do You Love To Make Social Media Photography? Well we totally love it…this one is called “NO ADDITIVES NEEDED” it’s about a drink I discovered. Yum. Sour. #citricacid #chilli #limejuice #orangejuice #negromodellodraft – this Mexican restaurant spot was spicy and sassy and cheerful as i entered – drawing me in to this #happy #bright space – when I slipped quietly into a noisy (fun happy background noise) quiet (able to not speak and read my book) corner of the Puerto Vallarta Bar & Grill – Islamorada and it made my night off a blessing! This was MY FIRST EVER #michelada I felt brave ordering it – even braver drinking it but ‘pucker my puckering lips’ what a fabulous sour kick on the rim with the #tajin all round the edge – what a way to drink beer! My first ever #micheladas all I can say is thank you oh creator of food! And of course @puertovallartafl puertovallartafl

social media photography

Sky Born Visual on Google just posted Florida Keys Social Media photography. When you just need to make a big noise about a small detail, it really really does work. Google is brilliant for spreading everyone’s experiences worldwide. The the fun begins. Because that is a LOT of people and a lot of photographs.

The issue is standing out. More correctly – making it clear what it is your photograph is useful for.

Social Media and Branding photography are all the rage more so now than ever. Everyone has access to smartphone technology with bokeh, f stops, panorama, stabilised 4k 60fps video. So if you want to make your friends boutique a branding look book the technology you need is in your hand. And content is getting more professional looking, even the very inexperienced visual content producer can make a fabulous social media post.

And, maybe for some things, video works better. But in a rush the photo you snap in the heat of the experience is often most impactful. And I feel like, since Google Local Guides make it so easy, why not send your best smart phone photos straight to the old Google timeline.

We have millions of viewers on photography we have made on smartphones too. It works, and we are now enjoy Level 8 Google Local Guide status on two accounts. It works well since its free to post and the views are numerous.
